If the time allows, walking is the best way to get to know a country, its people and their customs. Serbia’s centuries-old forests, vast plains, villages, towns and cities and mountain peaks are a real challenge even for experienced hikers. Besides recreation, physical satisfaction and enjoyment in beautiful natural sights and phenomena, you will also have the chance to see many historical monuments.
Serbia in the geomorphologic sense is mostly mountainous country, determent by age, origin, geological structure, directions and forms of relief.
Therefore mountains are very diverse and provide a different pleasures of interest for everyone's taste. Hikers will be really happy with the National Park of Fruška Gora, Kopaonik and Tara. Many walking tours, several tens of kilometers in length can be found on each of these. Also, Mountaineering associations are developing their activities in different sections and can offer (rock-climbing, caving, orienteering, mountain biking, paragliding, etc). It is estimated that the long distance footpath "Sultans Trail" will be developed in Serbia, (from Vienna to Istanbul).
