THE VRELO RIVER – THE SHORTEST RIVER IN THE WORLD

The Vrelo River is the right tributary of the Drina River in the village of Perucac, Bajina Basta in Serbia. The river is only 365 meters long, and is probably one of the shortest rivers in the world.

Because of its length ( the number of meters is the same as the number of the days in one year ), many call it the ” Year “, and say that it’s a long as a year. It has a large source and after its brief flow, it flows into the Drina as a waterflow. Although short, it has all the characteristics of major rivers – large, powerful source, of whitish water, a pond on the right bank, a mill on the left, a left tributary, a village on the left bank, two bridges.
