The National Park of Kopaonik is no only the most important mountain massive on Serbia, but also its most developed skiing station. At the summit a little town organized around the great hotel complex with a lot of bars, game halls and discothèques. But all around the National Park on 11,800 square meters surface area avec not less than 10 natural reservations.

Complete winter sports station

The massif of Kopaonik has been formed by four mountains with the summits among the highest in South-West Europe: Pancicev Vrh (2017 m), Suvo Rudiste (1976 m), Karaman Vucak (1936 m) and Gobelja (1934 m). The first two of them form the skiing station of Kopaonik and give a lot of possibilities for winter activities. Under the snow 9 months out of 12, the summits Pancicev Vrh and Suvo Rudiste are traversed by not less than 21 pathways, 1,000 to 1,500 meters each. The ensemble has been represented by a complex 60 km. long. One is skiing on the height of between 2017 and 1770 m. on 4 black pathways, 6 red and 11 blue. There are also 4 pathways for younger children. Briefly, equivalent to a middle sized station in French Alps with an equipment of the third generation of winter sport stations.

But Kopaonik is also the best location n Serbia for the top sports. On the high altitudes the parapet is also favoured. On the alpine summits the snowboard with a fun park for the half pipe a diving trampoline and the “free ride” excursions. Also the climbing and alpinism have been organized in the high massifs with the walks on the highest summits with ski safari. On the smaller altitudes beautiful fundamental skiing pathways have been developed in the high mountain valleys across the alpine fir tree forests.

ALPINE SKIING. A ski tour for the whole complex costs for the adults 1,100 dinars a day, 2,700 dinars for three days and 3,000 dinars for a week (7 days). The rent for a complete equipment is 750 dinars a days both for skiing and fir the snowboard. Finally a lesson in skiing costs 900 dinars, a tariff not accessible for the majority of nations, but acceptable for a Westerner, even if the prices had been blazing the last years.
Reservations: Reception “Konaci” open non stop on 036 71 977 or at the bottom of the pathways on 064 25033 334. On Belgrade call 064 11 62 401.

EXTREME SPORTS: “Yugotours” organizes excursions to the summits of ski safari or moto-snow at the lowest altitude, always with a guide (50 Euro half a day of motor-skiing). The parapet developed very quickly last years with the international competition and numerous associations of which the most important is the “Paragliding Club” or “Rtanj”. The snowboard and the free climbing are in explosion, but neither alpinism in the high mountains was at rest thanks to the alpine club of “Rtanj”.

Mountain massive greeting the summer

The National Park which may be reached from the towns of Raska in the West or Brzece in the East posses a nature of an exceptional variety with the landscapes encountered infrequently in the Alps. From the entrance to the park you are taken by the extreme variety and by the height of trees, beech trees, fir trees of 15 to 20 meters in height it is stretching from 1,500 to 1,700 meters on the high rounded massifs and surrounded by pastures and prairies. Up above they form the more dense and green forests covering the mountain plants and the luxuriant bushes. The juniper bush, bilberry, lime trees are going parallel with these rare species as: the violet, rezuha and cuvarkuca. It has been estimated 1,500 as the number of vegetal species growing and developing old high ancient woods of Kopaonik. The bear and roe deer have unfortunately disappeared from these regions, but the wolf, the fox and the reservation hare are walking always through the heights. In this charming framework you have the possibility to plunge into the forest and to cruise through a very developed alpine nature. Many pathways of medium or important difficulties will make you traverse the brooks, the waterfalls and even a geyser.
