500-700: Came South Slav tribes. They settled in the regions between the Danube and the Adriatic Sea.
End of IX century: The Greek monks Cyril and Method came from the mount Athos, converted this region to Christianity and had left a language written in the church, Cyrillic.
845: Foundation of the first Serbian State by the zupan (Prince) Vlastimir. It had been established in Rascia till XII century, what had involved South and East Serbia, Kosovo-Metohija and present Montenegro.
1077: Vladimir I Vojisavljevic had united the tribes of Duklja and had created the Kingdom of Zeta there where there is the present Montenegro. After his death the divisions between the princes dismembered the kingdom, and that made it easy to Stefan Nemanja to conquer it and to become the king of Rascia.
1169-1196: Stefan Nemanja had been ruling in Serbia and had created the dynasty of Nemanjics. His successors Dragutin and Milutin had enlarged their territory to Vardar and Danube.
1331-1335: Golden Age for Serbia with Dusan the Great who had been crowned the Emperor of Serbs and Greeks in 1346. Macedonia and Thessalie belonged to Nemanjics.
June 28th 1389: Defeat of the army of Prince Lazar by Turks in the plane of Kosovo (Field of the merles). The beginning of losing Serbian territories to Turks.
1521: Turks conquered Belgrade. Serbs had been attached to the Patriarchy of Pec.
1690: Great migration of Serbs to Austrian Vojvodina escaping the Turkish violence.
1804: The first Serbian revolt led by Karadjordje (George the Black) against Turks.
1830: Autonomy of Serbia under the suzerainty of Sultan of Istanbul.
1878: The independence of Serbia at the Berlin Congress.
June 28th 1914: Assassination of Prince Regent of Austria-Hungary by a Serb, Gavrilo Princip. Austro-Hungary declared war to Serbia.
December 1918. Serbia had been integrated into the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenians.
1929: This kingdom became Yugoslavia of the king Alexander Karadjordjevic.
March 27th 1941. Coup d’etat in Belgrade against Regent Paul. Serbia became a Quisling state, and Montenegro has been occupied by Italians.
1945. Creation of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia by Tito. Serbia became one of six Republics.
1989: Milosevic, the president of Serbia had annulled the autonomies of Vojvodina and of Kosovo-Metohija.
1991: Independence of Slovenia, Croatia and Macedonia.
April 27th 1992: The Federal Republic of Yugoslavia had been created from Serbia and Montenegro.
May 1992 : The UN Resolution 757 proclaiming embargo to Yugoslavia.
March-April 1999: Bombing Yugoslavia by NATO.
February 2003: Confederal Union of Serbia and Montenegro.
May 2006: Peaceful separation between Serbia and Montenegro
