At 38 kilometres away from Valjevo toward the South-East dug in on the summit of the massive of Maljen the alpinist tourist complex of Divcibare shows itself. Situated at the height of 890 meters above the sea level and surrounded by the rounded off mountains of Maljen, Divcibare is very agreeable in all seasons. In fact the fresh but dry wind coming from Mediterranean is agreeably airing the atmosphere here and limits the rain to 924 mm a year. This situation explains the dry weather and the temperature of 18 centigrade average. In the Serbian continental summer time it is good to climb Divcibare escaping into the forest shadow and prairies.
This ideal climatic situation explained why Prince Milos Obrenovic from 1822 on had chosen this place for the summer time rest. Even if it used to take more than 15 hours on train to come here, between the two wars, Divcibare became popular in the 1930s with the superb villas and houses made of wood constructed by rich Belgraders. They say that one dined in the only hotel in the time of French and Hungarian visitors. Today that has been changed and Divcibare became a great tourist complex. Four buses from Valjevo and one directly from Belgrade could bring you to Divcibare, 100 dinars from Belgrade.
The activities are various in the alpinist milieu of Divcibare. On the first place it is a wonderful environment to take long walks the fungi, narcissuses, wood strawberries, bilberries are waiting for you along the six forest pathways with road signs. Many tours of 40 minutes to 6 hours .But for those preferring sports the are 4 protected reserves on the midforest, with the canyon of Crna Reka or the waterfalls of Skakalo on the river Manastirica. During the four months with snow falling in winter time four ski pathways of 300 to 800 meters long are waiting for you. True, no greenery, but that does no disturb our pleasure of a skier one and a half hours from the capital.
